DUDLEY -- Darnell Vance Gwaltney Jr., 66, of 861 O'Berry Road, Dudley, died Saturday at his home.
He was the son of the late Darnell Vance Gwaltney and Dannie Mae Price Gwaltney. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had in years past been employed by the town of Mount Olive as a fire dispatcher.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with Bishop Richard D. Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Willow Dale Cemetery in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Dail Gwaltney.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Darnell V. "Don" Gwaltney III and his wife, Tina, of Dudley; a daughter, Rebekah Gwaltney Guyton and her husband, Adam, of Goldsboro; another son-in-law, Timothy Louis Hobbs of Faison, husband of deceased daughter, Crystal Lynn Gwaltney Hobbs; two brothers, Doug Gwaltney of Dudley and Danny Gwaltney of Calypso; and two grandchildren, Meagan Nicole Hobbs and Cayla Marie Hobbs, both of Faison.
