Rose Yvonne Whitted Dublin, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, transitioned from earth to heaven on Thursday. She was born in Goldsboro to the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Whitted Sr., and was preceded in death by her sisters, Estelle W. Curley, Rachel W. Abbot, Christine Whitted and Dorothy W. Hardy. She graduated from Dillard High School and received an associate degree in secretarial science from Midlands Technical College. She was a legal secretary for the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs and retired in 1999.

At an early age, she joined First African Baptist Church. She also attended New St. Thomas Reformed Episcopal Church and First North East Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C., where she resided.

She devoted her life to rearing her children. She encouraged them to grow spiritually and educationally, and provided them with wisdom, love and understanding. She was also well-respected by her colleagues and friends for the wisdom, love and understanding she gave them.

She will be missed by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Elton H. Dublin Jr. and his wife, Linda, Roselyn D. Brodie, Reginald M. Dublin, Iris D. Hall and her husband, John, Cynthia E. Dublin, Eltina Y. W. Dublin and Kevin T. Dublin; grandchildren, Ivan K. Dublin, Eric J. Miller, Reginald Dublin Jr., Elton D. Dublin III, Damani R. Kea, JeRae D. Dublin, Daleah R. W. Kea, Preston T. Dublin and Diego I. Dublin; and a great-grandchild, Taylor T. Smith. She is also survived by siblings Elizabeth W. Hobbs, Ernestine W. Wooten and her husband, John, Bernice W. Webster, Earl Whitted Jr., Eunice W. Hudson and her husband, Holland, and Ruth W. Britt and her husband, Eddie; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends at Hamilton Funeral Home in Goldsboro from 4 to 5:30 p.m. this afternoon. The funeral will be tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. at First African Baptist Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, the donations be made to the scholarship fund at First African Baptist Church.
