HAZEL D. WIGGS

Died Aug. 12, 2006

FREMONT-Hazel Dozier Wiggs, 89, of 205 North Wilson Street died Saturday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

A graveside service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.

Mrs. Wiggs was born in Nash County on January 20, 1917, to the late Ed Dozier and Mamie Price Dozier. She was a member of Fremont United Methodist Church and a member of the Annie Best Circle at Fremont United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary D. Patty and husband, Seldon, of Greensboro and Cynthia Bruton and her husband, James, of Greenville, South Carolina; one son-in-law, William Darden of Faro; two brothers, Kelly Dozier and J.E. Dozier; five sisters, Louise Baker, Eris Massengale, Natalie Gupton, Essiefoye Baker and Judy Crawley; six grandchildren, Gail Elmore, Dana Lewis, Gwen Daughtery, Susan Spence, John Patty and Amanda Patty; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan Elmore, Austin Lewis, James Daughtery and Ben Daughtery.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wiggs was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Wiggs; one daughter, Patricia Darden; one brother, Casper "Buddy" Dozier; two sisters, Shirley Nelms and Crystal Baker; and one grandson, James Patty.

The family will receive friends this afternoon from 2 until 2:45 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 N. Pine Street in Fremont and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Fremont Rescue Squad, 403 North Sycamore Street, Fremont, North Carolina 27830; The American Heart Association, 3015 South Memorial Drive, Suite A., Greenville, North Carolina 27834; Parkinson's Unity Walk, 633 Third Avenue, 27th Floor, New York, New York, 10017 or to the charity of one's choice.
