Robert "Shorty" Audrey Heath, 87, of 125 Garrick Lane, died Tuesday morning at home.

Homegoing services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro. The Rev. John Taylor, the Rev. Pete Williams, Evangelist Shirley Jones and Bishop Bobby Jones will officiate. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Heath was born in Lenoir County to the late Robert Heath and Emma Tyndall Heath. He was a member of Faith Outreach Ministries in Goldsboro. Mr. Heath served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon. He retired from the City of Kinston and volunteered as a senior companion at Cherry Hospital for five years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjaree Desmond Heath; two daughters, Emma Jane Capps of Williamsburg, Pa., and Linda Jones and her husband, Bishop Bobby Jones, of Eagle River, Alaska; one son, Tommie Heath and his wife, Debbie, of Goldsboro; one sister, Erma Jones of Beulaville; one sister-in-law, Christine Brown and her husband, Junior, of Kinston; and 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Heath was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Faye; one son, Dennis Earl; and one son-in-law, Reverend Leslie "Skipper" Capps.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro, and other times at the residence.
