Sarah Pate Howell, 83, of 227 Casey Dairy Road, died Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory. The Rev. Alan Lamm will officiate. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Ms. Howell was born in Lenoir County to the late Ernest Pate and Katherine Wells Pate and was the widow of Andrew P. Howell. She attended Casey's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, was retired from the Southern Bell telephone company, and was a paper carrier for the Goldsboro News-Argus for more than 10 years.
She is survived by one son, Ernest Triplett of Goldsboro; one sister, Edna Howell of Virginia; and seven grandchildren.
Another son, Howard Triplett, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service this evening and other times at the home of Cheryl and Charlie Casey, 262 Casey Dairy Road, Goldsboro.
Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533.
