EDNA E. BELL

MOUNT OLIVE -- It was on Saturday evening, July 15, 2006, that the angels of the Lord came down and claimed Mrs. Edna Eatmon Bell and carried her to her new home in Heaven. Death came for her while she was in the familiar surroundings of her home, lovingly embraced in the arms of her beloved family.
Mrs. Bell was born in Duplin County, daughter of the late Robert and Esther Brock Eatmon. She was the widow of Donnell Bell and was sister of the late Elizabeth "Lib" Eatmon, Raymond Eatmon, and Damon Eatmon. She was also preceded in death by a special caregiver, Margie Hassell. She was retired from Belk-Tyler's in Mount Olive, where she was office clerk and bookkeeper.
A service to celebrate and remember her life will be held on Tuesday, July 18, at 11 a.m., at the Bear Marsh Missionary Baptist Church, of which she was a long-time member. The Rev. Michael Whitesides and the Rev. Macon Wood will officiate. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Mike Carter, Darwin Byrd, Gary Eatmon, Jerry Eatmon, L.C. Jones and Nelson Malpass. Honorary pallbearers will be the Goldsboro Police Department Honor Guard.
Surviving family members include her daughter, Vicky Bell Cotton and husband, Buck, of Mount Olive; her son, Goldsboro Police Chief Timmy Bell and wife, Renee, of Mount Olive; her grandson, Josh Bell of Mount Olive; her sister-in-law, Janet Bell Dixon and husband, Ray, of Raleigh; her special caregiver, Ellen Hardison of Mount Olive; a special friend and former co-worker, Susan Jackson of Mount Olive; and her special companion, "Ginger," of the home; her nieces, Cynthia Gail Dixon of Raleigh and Janet Eatmon of Emerald Isle; and her three nephews, Gary Eatmon of Selma, Jerry Eatmon of Wake Forest and Ray Eatmon of Emerald Isle.
The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home this evening, July 17, from 7 until 9, and other times at the Bell residence, 356 Jones-Turner Road, near Mount Olive.
