ALDEAN W. SIMMONS

Mrs. Aldean "Dean" Wood Simmons, 86, wife of Henry Aldine Simmons, died on Saturday.
Mrs. Sim-mons was a member of Salem Uni-ted Meth-odist Church and was a charter member of Madi-son Avenue Baptist Church, where she was a long-time Sunday school teacher. She was the former president of the Goldsboro Jaycettes, and had worked with the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of America. Mrs. Simmons was past president of the National Association of Rehabilitation Secretaries and was a retired administrative secretary for a vocational rehabilitation facility.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Neal Wingfield and Rev. Neal Salter officiating.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband of 61 years, Henry A. Simmons, Jr.; her son, Don Simmons and wife, Kathleen, of Windsor, CA; her daughter, Cindy Beal and husband, Ed, of Roxboro, NC; her granddaughter, Christen Teisher and husband, Bob, of San Diego, CA; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Yvonne W. Sorrell and husband, Leston, of Sedona, Ariz.; and two special nephews, Marvin and Wayne Wood, and their families.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 2706 Salem Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
The family will receive friends Saturday following the service at the church.
