GENE ALLEN

Mr. Harold Eugene "Gene" Allen, 74, of 181 W. Hill Street, died Monday at Wake Medical Center.
Mr. Allen was born on February 8, 1932, in Wayne County to the late Troy and Lula Allen. He was retired from the United States Air Force after twenty two years of service and twenty years of Civil Service. Mr. Allen, an avid gardener, not only sowed the seeds of love and sharing in his garden but also in the way he lived his life.
A Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Norris O.S.F.S. presiding. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of fifty years, Hilda Moore Allen; his daughters, Donna Allen and Kelly Smith and husband, Allen, of Goldsboro; and his grandson, Jordan, who was the light and joy of his life.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Allen, and his brother, Wallace Allen.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to the Memorial and Honor Program, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
The family will receive family and friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Kelly and Allen Smith, 103 Quail Croft Drive, Goldsboro, N.C.
