Katherine Best, 79, of Goldsboro, died Friday in SunBridge Nursing Center in Mount Olive.
The funeral will be conducted on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Atkinson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Old Mill Cemetery.
Surviving are two sons, Eugene (Nancy) Best of Staten Island, N.Y., and Donald Best of Freeport, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer Best of Durham, N.C., Victoria Best of Albany, N.Y., Rebecca Best of Staten Island, N.Y., Heather (Peter) Miller of Bay Shore, N.Y., and Donald Best Jr. of Freeport, N.Y.; two great-grandchildren, Bruce and Esther Miller of Bay Shore, N.Y.; six sisters, Annie D. Lee, Alice Broadhurst and Lola Borne of Goldsboro , Willie M. (Frederick) Taylor of Washington, D.C., and Velma Dockery and Hilda Brown of Jamaica, N.Y.; two brothers, William Best and Burden Best of Goldsboro; and a special niece, Dorothy B. Davis of Goldsboro.
A viewing will be held on Friday from 3 until 8 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel of Goldsboro, with the family present from 7 until 8 p.m. At other times, the family will receive friends at 507 Gulley Street, Goldsboro.
