Edwin "Magnificent" Burnett, 81, died Saturday at his home at 100 Deertrack Place, Pikeville.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Rick Mondell will officiate.
Mr. Burnett was a native of Port Crane, N.Y., and was the son of the late George and Mae Lane Burnett. He retired as a plumber pipe fitter with civil service and was a member of the Optimist Club and Mount Vernon Grief Support Group of Sacramento, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Jane Carter-Burnett; one brother, Kenneth Burnett of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister, Geraldine Decker of Hallstead, Pa.; his children, Shirley Cavanaugh of Sacramento, Calif., Danna Brown of Goldsboro, Jamie Astor of Huntersville, N. C., Amanda Carter-King of Rancho Cordova, Calif., and James and Jeremy Carter, both of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Ashlee, Jordan, Shelby, Haley, Kaitlyn, Brea, Noah, Cameron, Jaxen, Carson, Rebecca, Bob, Tiger, Tricia, Cindy and Terry; several great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by his first wife, Effie Burnett, son, David; daughter, Marie; brothers, George and Cameron; and sisters, Millie and Jane.
The family will receive friends from 7 until p.m. on Tuesday at Seymour Funeral Home, and at other times at the residence.
