CONSTANCE GODWIN
April 19, 1938 - May 27, 2006
Constance "Connie" Prue Godwin, 68, a Mount Olive resident, died Saturday at the Brian Center in Goldsboro.
Born April 19, 1938, in Natick, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Francis Leonard and Dorothy Duquette Prue. She moved to Mount Olive in 1959, and from 1960 until 1966 she was employed as a secretary with Calypso Plywood Company. In 1966 she began employment with the Wayne County Public Schools, where she served until 1997 when her health forced an early retirement.
She is survived by her children, Debby Godwin of Mount. Dora, Fla., Bill Godwin of Mount Olive, and Marsha G. Jackson and husband David of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Mathew Godwin, Heather Godwin, Katie Jackson, and Joshua Jackson; a very special niece, Kathy Martin Rikard of Goldsboro; a special friend, Kisha Parker of Goldsboro; a brother, Leonard "Buddy" Prue of Bonita Springs, Fla.; a sister, Carol P. Carruthers of Los Angeles, Calif.; another brother, James F. Prue of Austin, Texas; the father of her children, Billy Godwin of Mount Olive; and many special friends at the Brian Center of Goldsboro.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Goldsboro with Fr. Tom Norris officiating. A rosary service will be at 9:45 a.m. at the church, and the family will greet friends there from 10 a.m. until service time. A private entombment service will be held in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 1000 N. Jefferson Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
Friends and relatives will be received at the home of David and Marsha Jackson, 672 Lake Wakena Road, Goldsboro.
Arrangements are by Tyndall Funeral Home, Mount Olive.
