LA GRANGE -- William L. Sutton, 74, of 4456 Ben E. Sutton Road, died Tuesday at Duke University Medical Center.
William was a retired farmer and a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. He served with the US Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Sutton was born in Lenoir County to the late Ben and Mary Elmore Sutton. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Sutton Cauley and Patty Sutton.
Funeral services will be held today at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Hill and Rev. Jim Tosto officiating. A committal service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Sutton is survived by his wife of fifty years, Alice Craft Sutton; son, William L. Sutton Jr. of Chapel Hill; two brothers, Ben Hardy Sutton and Joel Elmore Sutton, both of La Grange; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends today following the service and at other times at the home. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Stanley Sutton, 1832 Sutton Shortcut Road, La Grange, N.C. 28551.
