WARSAW -- The funeral for Elder Matt Vann Jr., 61, of 203 Jordan St., will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the KEMBA Headquarters. Elder Lorenzo Simmons will officiate. Burial will be in the Devotional Gardens.
Elder Vann was the son of the late Matt Sr. and Bessie Bowden Vann. He served in the United States Navy and was a retired inspector with the United States Department of Agriculture.
He is survived by his wife, Lynette Vann of the home; one son, Shayneh (Sherry) Vann of Durham; two daughters, Tomeka (Mickey) Hill and Shanna (Ronald) Vann-Hill of Warsaw; two sisters, Gwendolyn (Tony) Ayala of Pemberton, N.J., and Annie D. Rhodes of Warsaw; a special sister, Annie Julia Love of Wallace; 10 grandchildren, Donovan Miller, DeLante Miller, Micardo Wallace, Dominique Barnes, Mickey Hill Jr., Malik Hill, Brianna Vann, Krista Vann, Jordan Vann, and Ronmeisha Frederick; and his faithful companion, Boy.
The viewing will be held Saturday from 3:30 until 5 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home in Mount Olive. An inspirational wake service will follow from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Mt. Zion Holiness Church, Warsaw.
