ELLA PERKINSON

WINSTON-SALEM -- Ella Blanche "Perky" Perkinson died Sunday at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
She was the sister of Ed Jernigan, Sam Jernigan and Ruth Jernigan of Goldsboro. Her other sister, Evelyn Pickett, lives in Durham. Their parents were the late Sam and Bessie Jernigan.
Mrs. Perkinson was the widow of John Robert Perkinson. She earned a nursing degree from Rex Hospital in Raleigh and worked for many years as the plant nurse for the Cristex Corporation in Oxford. In 2001, she moved to Vienna Village Retirement Community Winston-Salem to be near her son, John R. "Jay" Perkinson Jr., and his family.
In addition to her son, brothers and sisters, Mrs. Perkinson is survived by four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 until 1:30 at Gentry, Newell and Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. at Oxford Baptist Church. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Oxford.
