JOHN MOODY

GREENVILLE -- Mr. John Robert "Pete" Moody, 83, of Greenville, died peacefully Saturday at his home.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Moody was born in Paducah, Kentucky, on July 29, 1922. He was a supervisor with A&P Food Stores for 38 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Marines on active duty in the Pacific Theatre, receiving a service medal for participation in Guadalcanal and other battles.
He was a Mason, a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Known as "Pete" to his friends, he cherished his family, especially his grandchildren who called him "Poppa Pete."
Mr. Moody was married to Mary John Moody in 1946, and she preceded him in death in 1967. He found love and happiness again when in 1976 he married Mary Virginia Meeks Moody, who survives him.
He is also survived by daughters, Cindy Hall and her husband, Bob, of Apex, Lynne Walker and her husband, Bob, of Goldsboro, and Beth Moody Ames of Garner; sons, Brad Moody and his wife, Gayle, of Raleigh, Tommy Skinner and his wife, Cheryl, of Greenville and Jeff Skinner and his wife, Susan, of Greenville; grandchildren, Jeff Crisco, Tony Crisco, Scott Crisco, Robert Walker III, John Bowen Walker, Mary Covington Walker, Cortney Ames, Lindsey Ames, Bradley Moody, Shep Skinner, Shawn Skinner, Ramsey Skinner, Hannah Skinner and Ned Skinner; and great-grandchildren, Ashley Crisco, MacKenzie Crisco, Conner Crisco and Taylor Crisco.
Dad, your family loves you and will miss you dearly.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home Sunday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asera Care Hospice, P. O. Box 1645, Greenville, NC 27834.
