KINSTON -- Elizabeth Sutton Whitfield, 78, died Monday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Edwards Funeral Home with the Rev. Patricia Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Whitfield was the daughter of the late Josiah and Laney Louisa Sutton. She retired as a teacher with the Lenoir County School System and was a member of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her husband , Hubert Vernon Whitfield of the home; two daughters, Betty Lou Whitfield of Goldsboro and Jo Whitfield Rhodes of Kinston; one sister Clyde Sutton Dawson of LaGrange; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends today from 6-7 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.
