PIKEVILLE -- Edward Preston Poythress Jr., 50, died Wednesday from injuries received in an automobile accident.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will be in Patetown Cemetery.
Mr. Poythress was born in Wilson County and was the son of Adean Murphy Poythress of Pikeville and the late Edward Preston Poythress Sr.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Poythress is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Poythress, and her fiancé, Joel Peele, of Pikeville, Angela Byrd and her husband, Jerry, of Pikeville and Pamela Mooring and her husband, Robert, of Fremont; three sisters, Patricia Wiggins and her husband, Bobby, of Goldsboro, Tammy Bass and her fiancé, Tom Hill, of Clayton and Carla Lee and her husband, Danny, of Eureka; and five grandchildren, Taylor Peele, Cody, Hayley and Brianna Byrd and Madelynne Mooring.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1 until 2, one hour prior to the funeral, and other times at the residence of Adean Poythress, 113 Leavie Drive, Pikeville.
