EARL CLEMMONS

Earl Clemmons, 70, died unexpectedly on Tuesday in Hampton, Va.
A native of Snow Hill, he had lived in Hampton since 1960, after serving in the U.S. Army. He worked at Newport News Shipbuilding for 33 years and retired in 1993 as a supervisor of the sheet metal department. He was a member of Hampton Christian Church, where he served as chairman of the board of elders and also as chairman of the property department. He was an avid golfer and a faithful volunteer in the community
He is survived by his wife, Linda Simmons Clemmons; three sons, Graylon Clemmons of Connecticut, Dennis Clemmons of Hampton, Va. and David Clemmons t of Smithfield, Va.; daughters, Sharon McSmith and Annette Oakley of Hampton; one brother, Harold Clemmons of Wilson; two sisters, Margaret Jones of Snow Hill and Dorothy Summerlin of Goldsboro; and five grandchildren
The funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hampton Christian Church. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hampton Christian Church, 151 E. Mercury Blvd., Hampton, Va., 23669.
