REV. JAMES EARP SR.

DUDLEY -- Rev. James Carlton "J.C." Earp Sr., age 82, died Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
Born in Wayne County on September 2, 1923, he was a son of the late James and Della Woodard Earp. He is also preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny Earp, Luther Earp, and Thomas Earp; and two sisters, Annie Twigg and Ethel Starling.
Rev. Earp was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He served as pastor of various churches in the Church of God of Prophecy denomination for over thirty years. He served as district overseer for four years and was also a retired bishop for the Church of God of Prophecy.
Funeral services were conducted at 6 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Rev. Guy Robinson officiating. Ministers from the Church of God of Prophecy served as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial was at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Wayne Memorial Park in Goldsboro.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ruby Rogers Earp; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. James C. "Jimmy" Earp Jr. and wife Kay of Princeton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Zabriskie and husband, Joe, of Dudley, Betty Rook and husband, Larry, of Fremont, Judy Beavers and husband, Curtis, of Smithfield; three sisters, Ella Mitchell of Goldsboro, Lydia Braswell of Selma, and Creola Parrish of Goldsboro; and 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
