Annie Lou Sasser Pate, 73, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 15, 2006, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Pate was born in Wayne County on July 25, 1932, to the late Leander Sasser and Callie Bryan Sasser. She was retired from Civil Service with the 4th Supply Squadron at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base with over forty years of service. Mrs. Pate was a faithful member of Falling Creek Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Annie Lou will be remembered as a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to so many. She demonstrated her Christian devotion in many ways, but especially in her care for others.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Falling Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Varner officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Pate is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Morris Pate, her daughter, Kimerly Hartzog and husband Dennis of Cary; her grandchildren, Bergen, Cooper and Peyton Hartzog; her sister, Barbara Aman and husband Gerald of Kinston; and her brother, Cyriel Sasser and wife Edith of Mount Olive.

She is also survived by her special nieces, Sheila Crawford and husband Jimmy of Pikeville, Yvonne Aman Ball of Raleigh, Patricia Aman Tyndall and husband Chris of Goldsboro, Connie Tart and husband Larry of Dunn, Pam Bass and husband Bruce of Virginia, Pat Smith and husband Pete of Goldsboro and Virginia Faucette of Goldsboro; her special nephews, Travis Sasser of Grantham, Byron Sasser and wife Lisa of Winston-Salem, Harold Sasser and wife Lisa of Raleigh, Bruce Sasser and wife Connie of Raleigh, Douglas Sasser of Goldsboro, Larry Brinson and wife Jennifer of Goldsboro, Wayne Sasser of Benson, Steve Sasser of Benson and Mark Sasser of Benson; her sisters-in-law, Wilma Sasser of Grantham and Redithia Sasser of Benson; and her brother-in-law, Jonas Brinson of Goldsboro.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Brinson, and her brothers, Norwood Sasser and Merrell Sasser.

Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Falling Creek Baptist Church, 499 Falling Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at her home, 329 Sandhill Drive, Goldsboro.
