Percy Newkirk Jr., 76, of 239 O'Berry Road, died Wednesday in Wayne Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Wayne County on June 22, 1929, to the late Percy Sr. and Carrie New-kirk. He was an avid far-mer and was a member of Faith Presbyter-ian Church in Dudley.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at First Congregational Church, 215 Sleepy Creek Road, Dudley. The Rev. Antonio Lawrence will officiate. Burial will follow in Washington Memorial Park on Durham Lake Road.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Newkirk of the home; a son, William Percell Newkirk of the home; a sister, Louise Broadhurst of Dudley; a brother, Clarence E. Newkirk of Dudley; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A viewing will be held today from 3 until 8 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel in Goldsboro. The family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. to receive friends.
