PRINCETON -- Mary Parnell Shallington, 81, died Saturday.
The funeral will be held tonight at 7 at Casey Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Pollock and the Rev. William Wallace will officiate. Committal will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Princeton Cemetery.
Mrs. Shallington was born in Johnston County. She was the daughter of the late Dock and Ellen Davis Parnell and the widow of Wiley Franklin Shallington.
Her survivors include two daughters, Mary Ruth Roberts and Margaret Laverne Wellons of Princeton; three sons, Wiley Franklin Shallington of Kenly, Thurman Eldridge Shallington of Middlesex and James Alvin Shallington of Princeton; four sisters, Martha Ellen Bass of Fremont, Gloria Talton of Princeton, Rodie Iona Bailey of Goldsboro and Gladys Irene Summerlin of Pikeville; and 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 55 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Kathleen Shallington and Ethel Mae Taylor.
The family will receive friends this evening at Casey Funeral Home one hour prior to and immediately following the funeral, and other times at the residence at 787 Bug Shop Road.
