Irene Rae Hitch Moore, 85, died Saturday.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Moore was a native of Maryland and worked as a traffic programmer with WNCT radio for more than 30 years, retiring in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Moore Jr. in 1964, a son, the Rev. John W. Moore III in 1990 and a daughter, Martha Jean Whitehurst in 2003.
She is survived by a son, Harry L. Moore and wife, Susan, of Goldsboro; a daughter, Judy M. Sawyer and husband, Donnelle, of Greenville; a brother, Elton Hitch and wife, Margaret, of La Plata, Md.; 12 grandchildren, Mitchell Brann, Lisa B. Wilder, Christopher Moore, Hannah M. Hales, Matthew Moore, Gary Whitehurst, Brian Whitehurst, Samuel Scott Moore, John W. Moore IV, Nancy C. Bryan, Melissa R. Moore and Robin L. Moore; and eight grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Dr., Greenville, 27834.
