Ora Belle Peele Sasser, 93, of 243 Nahunta Farm Road, died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late George Franklin Peele and Effie Jane Overman Peele, and was married to the late Reuben Perry Sasser. Mrs. Sasser was retired from Belk Department Store and was a graduate of Nahunta High School. She was a member of Nahunta Friends Meeting where she served in many capacities.
Mrs. Sasser was a 50 year active member of the Home Extension Club where she served many offices including President. One of her great loves was gardening, canning and freezing; and she won many awards on the local, district and state level.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Nahunta Friends Meeting with Ken Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in Nahunta Cemetery.
Mrs. Sasser is survived by her daughters, Inez Moen and husband, Harry, and Jane McLamb and husband, Joseph, all of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Andrea Medlin and husband, Todd, Todd Moen and Brandon Fletcher; a great-grandson, Jacob Perry Medlin, and several special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Oland F. Peele and H. Aaron Peele.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Dr., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family received friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and at other times, will be at the home of Joe and Jane McLamb, 102 E. April Lane, Goldsboro.
