EUGENE BURKETT

TRENTON -- Eugene "Cowboy" Burkett, 77, father of Jill Rand of Goldsboro, died Monday at Craven Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Maple Grove United Methodist Church in Trenton with the Rev. Peg O. Witt officiating. Burial will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at Trenton Cemetery.
In addition to his daughter, Mr. Burkett is survived by his wife, Doris McDaniel Burkett; one son, Dolphus E. Burkett of Gum Spring, Va.; another daughter, Gail Harrison of Trenton; three brothers, Gary, Allen and Michael Borgan of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Rosella Birchfield of Columbus, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the church following the service on Thursday evening.
Cotten Funeral Home is serving the family.
