George Brantley "Porgy" Coker, 56, of Midlothian, Va., died Monday at the Veterans Hospital in Richmond, Va.
The funeral will be held tonight at 7 at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Coker was born in Wayne County and was the son of Helen McKeel Coker Grady of Midlothian, Va., and the late George Coker. A 1967 graduate of Goldsboro High School, he served in the United States Army and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Vietnam Campaign Metal. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his stepfather, A.T. Grady of Midlothian, Va.; two brothers, Daryl Coker, and his wife, Marie, of Goldsboro and Tony Grady and his wife, Pam, of Knightdale; two sisters, Karen Coker Mills and her husband, Russell, of Midlothian, Va., and Tammy Grady Daniels and her husband, David, of Powhatan, Va.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service tonight, and other times at the home of his brother, Daryl Coker, 101 Kelly Drive, Goldsboro.
