FLOYD R. EVANS

Floyd Richard Evans, 77, of 523 Forest Hill Drive, died Monday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Johnson officiating. Burial, with Masonic rites, will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Evans was born in Charlotte on Dec. 1, 1927, to the late Charnic Joshua Evans and Rena Faulkner Evans. He served in the United States Marine Corps, graduated from Louisburg College and earned a master's degree in social work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He retired as director of social services for Wayne County and had served as the interim clerk of court for Wayne County.
Mr. Evans was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church, where he taught the Bible Class for over 30 years, was the District Lay Leader for six years and had served on various committees. He had served as a Boy Scout leader and was a lifetime member of the Goldsboro Host Lions Club. Mr.. Evans was also a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #112 A.F. & A.M. and a Shriner.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Betty Hudson Evans; two sons, Vann W. Evans, and wife, Laura, of Chapel Hill and Gene Hayes and wife, Betty, of Goldsboro; one sister, Gladys Grandy, and her husband, Homer, of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Heather Hayes of Asheville and Patrick Ellis of Goldsboro; and a nephew, Rick Odom, and his wife, Judy, of Wilmington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bruce W. Evans, and his wife, Nancy Weaver Evans.

The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the residence, 523 Forest Hill Drive, Goldsboro.
