Beatrice Henderson Smith, 85, died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Glenn Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born in Turner County, Georgia, to the late Leonard Powell Henderson and Annie Belle Phillips Henderson. She was married to the late Wilbur Franklin Smith and had worked with Weil's retail store and Clinard's Fashions Inc. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
She is survived by two daughters, Eula Henry, and husband, Ed, of Harrisburg, Pa., and Brenda Jones and husband, Ernest, of Goldsboro; two sons, Joseph Franklin Smith, and his wife, Jessica, of Goldsboro and Leonard Smith and his wife, Wendy, of Charlotte; two sisters, Martha Blanton and Edith Hughes, both of Marietta, Ga; four grandchildren, Robin Radford of Pikeville, Joseph Aycock of Tampa, Fla., Kathy Betz of Milford, N.J., and Chris Henry of New York City; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Radford, Daniel Radford and Scarlett Betz.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Smith; three sisters, Thelma Owens, Ruby Mashburn and Bernice Mason; and three brothers, L.P. Henderson, Alton Henderson and Harold Henderson.
The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of her daughter at 1510 Edgerton St., Goldsboro.
