SELMA H. MACKIE
Selma Hendricks Mackie, sister of Mrs. Durwood (Mae) Murray of Goldsboro, died Sunday July 24, 2005, at Wesley Long Hospital.
A graveside service was held today at 10 a.m. at New Garden Cemetery.
Mrs. Mackie was born in Greensboro on Sept. 28, 1908, the eldest daughter of Thomas Hendricks and Gertrude Craven. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty nine years, Wade Mackie. She was a life-long Quaker and member of New Garden Friends Meeting.
In addition to her sister, Mrs. Mackie is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Smith of Greenwell Springs, La., and Martha Gardner of Portland, Ore.; one son, Wade Craven Mackie of Edwardsville, Ill.; another sister, Bette Light of Greensboro; a brother, Seth Hendrix of Greensboro; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends Homes Residents Assistance Fund, 925 New Garden Road, Greensboro, N.C., 27410; and to AFSC, American Friends Service Committee, 1501 Cherry St., Philadelphia, Pa., 19102.
