Donald Hinson, 71, of 3955 US Hwy. 117 Alt., died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Sasser and the Rev. James Herring officiating. Burial, with military and fire department honors, will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Hinson was born in Wayne County to the late James R. and Maggie Pearsall Hinson. He was the owner of Donald Hinson's Barber Shop and a member of Emmaus Baptist Church. He was a charter member and retired chief with the Dudley Volunteer Fire Department and a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Chambers Hinson; two sons, James Donald "Jimmy" Hinson and wife, Teresa, of Dudley, Shelton Mark Hinson and fiancée, Deborah Gibbs, of Dudley; one brother, Noland Hinson, of Smithfield; three sisters, Lois Grimes of Mount Olive, Joyce Anderson of Harrisburg and Jewel Halso of Hampstead; four grandchildren, Emily Hinson, Thomas James "T.J." Hinson, Amber Syomin and Jerricha Leigh Hinson.
The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
