Ruby Fields Whitfield, 91, a long-time resident of the Rones Chapel community, died early today at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday with the Rev. Clark Barfield and the Rev. Daniel Forbes officiating. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends and relatives. At other times they will be at the home of Alma Jean Wells, 256 Rones Chapel Road, Mount Olive.
Committal and interment will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Whitfield was a member of the Rones Chapel United Methodist Church and was the widow of James Russell Whitfield. She was the daughter of the late James G. and Lila Walker Fields.
She is survived by a son, James Russell "Buddy" Whitfield Jr. of the Rones Chapel community; two daughters, Alma Jean W. Wells of the Rones Chapel community and Geraldine W. Brewer and her husband, L. B. Brewer Jr., of Mount Olive; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
