LAGRANGE -- Harvey Bingham Rouse, 87, of 211 East Railroad St., died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Rouse was born in Lenoir County to the late Thomas and Anara Fields Rouse. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in both the United States Army and Navy. He attended LaGrange Church of God and his hobby was gardening. He was preceded in death by a son, Melvyn Rouse.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Lucille Waters Rouse; one daughter, Sue Thomas, and her husband, Harold, of Snow Hill; two grandsons, Donald Thomas, and his wife, Mandy, of Clayton and Ben Thomas and his wife, Tracy, of LaGrange; one great-grandchild, Carter Thomas; his daughter-in-law, Opal Rouse of Kinston; and a special nephew, Billy Casey, and his wife, Imogene, of Kinston.

The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Arnold Ball officiating. The committal will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Flatfield Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service tonight, and other times at the residence.
