ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Ruby Mitchell Wingate, mother of Alex Wingate of Goldsboro, died Tuesday. She was 86.

The funeral will be held Saturday, July 16, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. Johns United Methodist Church on Oakland Avenue in Rock Hill, S.C., with the Rev. Gary McWhorter, the Rev. Mary Nichols, and the Rev. Terry Wingate officiating. Burial will be at Laurel Wood Cemetery, Rock Hill, S.C., following the service.

Mrs. Wingate was the daughter of the late Whit and Anne Mitchell and the widow of William G. Wingate Sr. She was a retired employee of Smart Shop and was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Rock Hill. She was a 50-year member of Catawba Chapter of Eastern Star and was a former Worthy Matron.

She also is survived by two other sons, William G Wingate Jr. of Augusta, Ga., and Donnie Wingate of Chester, S.C.; and 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
