Margaret Peele Gurley, 89, died Thursday at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation for Mount Olive.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Peele Family Cemetery. Pastor Mike Grady will officiate.

Mrs. Gurley was born in Wayne County on October 15, 1915, to the late Foy Jackson Peele Sr. and Eva Hinson Peele. She was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed garden work, country living, and farming.

She is survived by her daughter, Eva Ann Rankin and her husband, Robert J. of Dudley; one grandson, Timothy Wayne Lupton of Mount Olive; one step-granddaughter, Georgie Whaley of Mount Olive; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Kelly and Marie Peele of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gurley was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Gurley; two brothers, D.J. Peele and F.J. Peele; one sister, Lucille Taylor; and one brother-in-law, Marvin Taylor.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service on Sunday.
