PRINCETON -- Lacy A. Moore Jr., 63, died Tuesday at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.

Born September 6, 1941, in Morehead City, he was the son of the late Lacy A. Moore and Tessie Moore Nichols. Mr. Moore moved to Johnston County in 1984 with Progress Energy and he remained with them until his retirement. He was a member of the Princeton United Methodist Church the Goldsboro Masonic Lodge 112 and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

A memorial service will be conducted Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Princeton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bobby Fletcher, the Rev. Dick Lewis and the Rev. Frank Grubb officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Entombment will be at a later date in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Diane Gulledge Moore; one son, Lacy A. Moore III, and his wife, Heidi, of Princeton; one brother, Benny Moore, and his wife, Bennie Lou, of Cheraw, S.C.; one sister, Marilu Byrd, and her husband, Dave, of Charlotte; and one granddaughter, Xan A. Moore.

He was preceded in death by a son, Clifton Alexander Moore.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Princeton United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 116, Princeton, N.C., 27569; or to the American Cancer Society, Johnston County Unit, P. O. Box 1544, Smithfield, N.C., 27577.

Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton is serving the family.
