MARY T. WISE
1918 - 2005
Mary Belle Thompson Wise, 86, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A recent resident of the Brian Center Healthcare of Goldsboro, she was born in Wayne County to the late Thomas and Mary Etta Thompson of the Grantham Community and was married to the late Fred Wise Sr.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Billy Ray Wise; a grandson, Jeffery Moore; one brother, Willie Thompson; and three sisters, Flossie Simmons, Hazel Snipes and Cleo Wagner.
Mrs. Wise was employed for many years by the Americal Corporation. She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church in Dudley and the Home Extension Club. Her great cooking was enjoyed by everyone, and she was most proud of her nine children and many grandchildren.
Surviving are four sons, Jimmy Wise and wife Linda of Eureka, Danny Wise and wife Patsy of Cape Carteret, Fred Wise Jr. and wife Violet of Dudley and Jackie Wise of Dudley; four daughters, Shirley Moore and husband John of Grifton, Jean McCoy and husband Bobby of Dudley and Mary Margaret Holley and husband Roger of Niceville, Fla.; nineteen grandchildren, thirty four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The Reverends Johnny Sasser and Rick Mondell will officiate. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Roger Smith, David Wise, Stevie Herring, Fred Herring, Mark Wise and Tommy Wise. Honorary pallbearers will be U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Paul Holley, U.S. Army Spec. Matthew Holley, and Jeffery Moore.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Flowers are welcome; however, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Emmaus Baptist Church, 714 Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, N.C., 28333.
