ESTELLE JARMAN

KINSTON -- Estelle Lanier Jarman, 95, of 1819 Maple Leaf Drive, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday afternoon at her home.

A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday evening, July 5, at 7 p.m. at Tanglewood Church of God on Rouse Road, Kinston, N.C. Pastor Tim Lanier, Pastor Ron Crumpton, Pastor J. Wesley Jarman and Reverend Brett Blackmon will officiate. Interment will be on Wednesday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Born in Lenoir County, she was the daughter of Amos Jacob Lanier and Blanch Caroline Jarman Lanier. She was a 1929 graduate of Southwood School. She was employed with Caswell Center for 20 years. Mrs. Jarman was a charter member of Tanglewood Church of God in Kinston and a faithful member since 1937. She served as a Sunday school teacher, Women's Ministries president and in many other areas of the church she loved and helped to establish. She was a spiritual mother, a confidante to many, and a prayer warrior who was totally dedicated to her Lord.

Mrs. Jarman was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joseph N. Jarman; her parents; one brother, the Reverend Paul Francis Lanier; four sisters, Cora Furlong Greenhouse, Mary Miller, Sadie Davenport, and Laurah "Luke" Jarman; and two great-grandsons, Brad Grimes and Austin Williamson.

She is survived by 11 children, Winfield Jarman and wife Betty of Kinston, Tom Jarman and wife Catherine of Kinston, John Jarman and wife Sherry of Jacksonville, Nick Jarman and wife Margaret of LaGrange, J. Wesley Jarman and wife Lillian of Goldsboro, Harry Jarman and wife Cecile of Grand Prairie, Texas, Eleanor Barwick of Kinston, Sally Blackmon and husband Bill of Four Oaks, Evelyn Jarman of LaGrange, Faye Crumpton and husband Ron of Seminole, Florida, Iris Gray and husband Gene of Kinston, and a special friend and caregiver, Bobbie Byrd of Kinston; and 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following the celebration service at Tanglewood Church of God on Rouse Road, and other times at the home of Eleanor Barwick, 1819 Maple Leaf Drive, Kinston.

Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Tanglewood Church of God, 2103 Rouse Road, Kinston, N.C.
