SUE EDGERTON JONES

Sept. 22, 1926 - June 29, 2005

Mrs. Sue Edgerton Jones, 78, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Mrs. Jones was born in Wayne County and was the daughter of the late Bill and Lela Lane Edgerton. She was a graduate of Goldsboro High School and attended Women's College of Greensboro. Mrs. Jones was the former owner and operator of Sue's Superb Sandwiches.

She was a faithful member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church, where she had served as president of the United Methodist Women and was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School class. She had a love for children and had worked as a Bible School teacher and as a Children's Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Jones had a special love for missions and had served as the Chairman of both the Mission and Evangelism committees for the church. She was one of the organizers of the Door Step Program at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Glenn Everett officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Dennis E. Jones; her children, Dee Gwaltney Johnson and husband, Tom, of Palmer, Texas, Denise Jones Pittman and husband, Lonnie, of Goldsboro, Kim Gwaltney Clark and husband, Lamonte, of Goldsboro, Gregg Gwaltney of Goldsboro and Bill Gwaltney and wife, Teresa, of Lecanta, Fla.; her grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson Besio, Kathryn Johnson Walker, Meagan Johnson Harris, Anthony Pittman, Kristen Julie Clark, Aimee Clark, Jared Clark, Christina Walker Woodard, Megan Rhodes, Steven Gwaltney and Jessica Gwaltney Yates; her great-grandchildren, Madison, Kaitlin, and Colin Besio, Summer and Holly Woodard and Tyla Sauls; and her special friends, Ila Mae Sutton, Jim and Darlene Wilson and Betty Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Edgerton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church Mission Fund, 2803 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

The family will receive friends Friday evening at the home of her daughter, Kim Clark, 306 N. Jefferson Street, Goldsboro.
