KINSTON -- The Rev. Leslie Lee Wilkins, 74, of 2065 Country Trail, died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
The funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Wheat Swamp Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. Bill Boswell and the Rev. H.C. Turner officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Rev. Wilkins was born in New Hanover County to the late Leslie L. and Sally Hood Wilkins. He served with the United State Air Force during the Korean War and was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College. He received his master of divinity degree from Brite Divinity School and was ordained into the ministry in 1957 at the First Christian Church, Wilson. He served churches in Mississippi, Texas and North Carolina.
Rev. Wilkins is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Elizabeth Hood Wilkins; three sons, Walter Wilkins and wife, Margie, of Laredo, Texas, Scott Wilkins of Kinston, William Wilkins and wife, Melissa, of Kinston; brother, Bill Wilkins of Greenville; five grandchildren, Walter Wilkins Jr., Phillip Wilkins, Debra Wilkins, William Wilkins Jr. and Spencer Wilkins; nieces, Dawn Hopper and husband, Trevor, of Cary, Sally Pasquerella of Erie, Pa.; along with special family friends, Kay Swope, John Swope, Mary Swope and Faye Gray.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, and at other times they will be at the home.
Memorial donations may be directed to Wheat Swamp Christian Church, 3732 Wheat Swamp Road, LaGrange, N.C., 28551.
