JAMES D. SCOTT SR.
James "Jimmy" Dozier Scott Sr., 60, of Studio City, Calif., formerly of Goldsboro, departed this life on June 15, 2005.
He was the son of Ann Marks Scott of Goldsboro and the late A. Martel Scott Sr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles E. Scott.
James attended Dillard High School and graduated in 1962. He then attended Howard University and later graduated from North Carolina A & T University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration.
At various times in his career, James worked in the family business, Scott's Famous Barbecue. While in Goldsboro, he taught business courses at Wayne Community College and was the director for the Dillard Business Incubator program. He was also employed as a business executive at several Fortune 500 companies while living in New York.
James was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated; the Goldsboro Jaycees; Wayne County, North Carolina, and Long Beach, California Chambers of Commerce; and Coast to Coast Investors, LLC.
James leaves to cherish with fond memories, Ingrid, his devoted wife of 39 years; his daughter, Ingrid Scott Harrison, and her husband, Calvin, of Bowie, Md.; his son, James Dozier Scott Jr. of Reseda, Calif.; his grandchildren, Alexander and Christinia Harrison of Bowie, Md.; his loving mother, Ann Marks Scott; his brother, Alvin Martel Scott Jr. and wife, Sandra; his sister, Sybill Scott Seward, and her husband, Eugene, all of Goldsboro.
James was also very close to his in-laws, Clarence and Emma Finley, and his sister-in-law, Beth Finley Jones, and her husband, Charles, all living in Los Angeles, Calif. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and businesses associates.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2005, at 2 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, 203 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C. The Rev. Dr. Dwight B. Cannon will officiate.
Although flowers are welcome, memorial gifts may be made in his memory to St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, P.O. Box 335, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533.
The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, 1203 S. Slocumb St., Goldsboro, N.C.
