DELMON CHERRY
Delmon Franklin Cherry, 75, died Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Adamsville Baptist Church. The Rev. Thayer Stamper will officiate. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Cherry was born in Greene County and was the son of the late Charlie Donovan and Lossie Bell Goff Cherry. He was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, head usher, assistant treasurer and Boy Scout leader, and was a member of the Adult Men's Sunday School Class. He retired from Brown & Root Inc. as a cost engineering manager.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Newell Cherry; two sons, and daughters-in-law, Michael and Freda Cherry of Tega Cay, S.C., and Terrence and Janet Cherry of Bedford, N.H.; three brothers, Malcolm Cherry of Baltimore, Md., Robert Cherry of Goldsboro and Linwood Cherry of Dudley; two sisters, Hazel Thomas of Snow Hill and Sudie Horton of Columbia, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Brice Cherry, Denbigh Cherry, Michael Cherry, Casha Cherry, Hank Grampre, Krystle Grampre and Amanda Tissue; and one great-grandchild, Cooper Cherry.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Cherry and Willard Cherry.
The family will greet friends today from 6:30 until 8:30 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
