MELBA S. JONES
Melba Stallings Jones, 75, of 1728 Hwy. 111 North, died Wednesday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
The funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory. The Rev. Ira Williford and the Rev. Donald Daniels will officiate. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Jones was born in Nash County on May 17, 1930, to the late Rossie and Lala Snipes Stallings. She was a member of United In Christ Church in Goldsboro and was a former member of Patetown Church of God. She was also a member of the Fremont Rescue Auxiliary. She retired with 23 years of service with Head Start in Goldsboro.
She is survived by three sons, Dennis Jones and wife Sue of Goldsboro, Bobby Jones of Goldsboro and Doug Jones and wife Diane of Goldsboro; one daughter, Carolyn Clark and husband Jamie of Goldsboro; two brothers, Nathan Stallings and wife Joyce of Pikeville and Vernon Stallings and wife Hazel of Saratoga; one sister, LaRue Lancaster of Vanceboro; nine grandchildren, D. J. and Christy Jones, Ron, Robin and Brittany Jones, Junior Jones, Beth Cohen, Jeannie Delisi, and Tiffany Arnette; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler Arnette, and Marissa and Laila Delisi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Jones; and three brothers, Melvin, Burgess and Theron Stallings.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro and other times at the home of Dennis and Sue Jones, 872 N.C. 581 North in Goldsboro.
