CHARLES GURGANUS
DUDLEY -- Retired United States Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Charles Leamon Gurganus, 61, of 3625 U.S. Highway 117 South Alternate, died Thursday morning at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Salem Advent Christian Church in Mount Olive, where he was a member. Pastor Richard Hathaway will officiate. Interment, with full military honors, will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.
Mr. Gurganus is survived by his wife of 31 years, Rose Beasley Gurganus of the home; three sons, Jimmy Leon and wife Mary Ann, Mark Leon and wife Susan and Daniel Gurganus and wife Holly, all of Goldsboro; four daughters, Wendy Soto and husband Jeff of Hope Mills, Melinda Gardner and husband Jay of Seven Springs, and Donna Gurganus and Lorraine Gurganus, both of the Raleigh area; five sisters, Frances Mozingo, Kathy Johnson, Louise Capps, Bobbie Mozingo, and Betty Sears, all of Goldsboro; six brothers, Jerry Mozingo of Dudley, Gene Mozingo of Knightdale, Linwood Mozingo of Goldsboro, Allen Mozingo of Goldsboro, Ralph Mozingo of Selma and Curley Mozingo of Wendell; and 18 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Bryant Gurganus; a sister, Faye G. Beasley; his father, Thomas Gurganus; his mother, Eloise Hill Gurganus Mozingo; and his stepfather, Ressie Mozingo.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, and other times at the residence.
