DUFFY JONES

MOUNT OLIVE -- A funeral service for Duffy Jones will be held tonight at 7 from the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Mount Olive. The Reverends Doug Bartlett and Jimmy Swinson will officiate. Visitation will follow the service. A committal service will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery, followed by entombment.

Mr. Jones, 96, of 409 Steele St., in Mount Olive, died Thursday morning at SunBridge Care in Mount Olive. He was retired from the Wayne County Public Schools garage maintenance dept. He was the last surviving charter member of the Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elgie Jernigan Jones, his parents, Davis and Bettie Underhill Jones, two brothers, Johnnie Jones and Pearley Jones, two sisters, Winnie Millard and Pinkney Smith, and a grandson, Clint Bland.

Mr. Jones is survived by a daughter, Lena J. Price and husband, Kenneth L. Price of Goldsboro; four sons, William D. "Bill" Jones and wife, Billie Jean Jones of Mount Olive, Elvin "Puddin" Jones and wife, Joyce Jones of Mount Olive, Charles Ray Jones of Mount Olive, and Bobby Jones and wife, Linda Jones of Kinston; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Tyndall in Mount Olive.
