H.E. "JIM" COLLIE
Mr. H. E. "Jim" Collie, 77, of 106 W. Doe Trail, departed this life to be with his Lord and Saviour, Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A native of Nash County, he was the son of the late Walter and Ellie Inscoe Collie. Mr. Collie had retired as Human Resource Manager with J. P. Stevens and was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church. He was also a retired M/Sgt. with the United States Air Force. Mr. Collie was a former Director of Human Resources with Textron Corporation and a former teacher and instructor for Western Carolina Industries. He served his community and church in many ways including, past president of the Piedmont Personnel Association, past president of the Baptist Brotherhood Association, served on the Board of Directors for the United Way, was a Master Mason, ordained Deacon, Sunday School teacher, hospice volunteer and Wayne Memorial Hospital volunteer.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Braswell and the Rev. E. C. Mattocks officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston with full military honors.
Mr. Collie is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Annie Barnett Collie; his daughters, Linda C. Huggins and husband Randall of Kinston, Nancy C. Kops of Kinston and Carolyn C. Gilliam of Hickory; his sisters, Ruby Vogel and husband Bill of Rocky Mount and Odell Cho of California; his brother, Bernice Wester and wife Margie of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Chris Smith and wife Krissie, Matt Smith and wife Daniela, Michael Kops and fiancée Misty Braden, Jason Kops, Byron Gilliam and Alicia Gilliam; and his great grandchildren, Cydney Smith, Sierra Slate and Brennan Huggins.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
