SAMUEL BEAMON

Samuel Christopher Hayes Beamon, 86, of 265 Stoney Hill Road, died Saturday at his home.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Andrews and the Rev. Tommy Johnson will officiate. Interment will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Beamon was born in Wayne County and was the son of the late James Robert Beamon and Eva Pate Beamon. He was a sweet potato farmer with the family business, Beamon Brothers Inc., and was a member of the North Carolina Sweet Potato Council. He was a member of Belfast Pentecostal Holiness Church, was a charter member of the Belfast Fire Department and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Johnson Beamon; two sons, James D. Beamon of Portsmouth, Va., and Gerald Hayes Beamon of Goldsboro; one daughter, Brenda Sue Beamon of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Michelle Adkins of De Ridder, La., Joseph Beamon of Goldsboro, Jessica Beamon of Greens-boro; one great-grandchild, Benjamin Adkins; a brother, Edwin B. Beamon of Golds-boro; and his sisters, Amy L. Edgerton of Kenly, Dorothy Pope of Garner and Eleanor Goff of Goldsboro, Lorraine Rowe of Pikeville, and Reba Barwick of Seven Springs.

The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home following the service on Tuesday and other times at the residence.
