DAVID S. LIBBY
Retired Senior Maser Sgt. David Starnes Libby, 75, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center after a long illness.
He was born in Westbrook, Maine, and joined the Air Force in 1948, serving 27 years in Alaska, Wisconsin, Maine, Korea, Texas, England, Thailand, North Carolina, Germany and Mississippi.
He graduated from Wayne Community College in 1981 and worked at Seymour Johnson Golf Shop for five years. He enjoyed boating, golf, carpentry and swimming at the YMCA.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Deborah Libby; three daughters, Becky McKinnon of Raleigh, Kim Mitchell of Maysville, Ky., and Julie Williams of Hickory; one son, Damon Starnes Libby of Swansboro; grandchildren, David J. McKinnon and Beth Bowman of Mount Juliet, Tenn., Jana Resch of Corona, Calif., Holly Lytle of Mableton, Ga., Shane Mitchell of Middlesex, Alan Davis of Greensboro and Brittany and Tyler Libby of Swansboro; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Michael and Brooke Bowman of Mount Juliet, Tenn., Savana and Michaela Mitchell of Middlesex, Liam Resch of Corona, Calif., and Winter and Luke Lytle of Mableton, Ga.; and two sisters, Constance Asdourian of South Portland, Maine, and JoAnne Flanders of Creedmoor.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Jan Robin Libby, and a brother, Richard Libby.
The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home from 3 until 5 on Friday afternoon.
Funeral services will be held at Seymour Funeral Home on Saturday at 11 a.m. Chaplain Steward Smith and Chaplain Michael Garren will officiate. Internment, with military honors, will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534; or to a favorite charity.
