R.C. GREGORY
Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. R.C. Gregory, 80, of 705 Harding Drive, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Dr. Glenn Phillips and the Rev. Scott Thrailkill will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Gregory was born in Cooleemee, N.C., and was the son of the late Romie Charles Gregory and Thelma Imes Gregory. During his military career, he was a prisoner of war in Japan and the Philippines. He was also a survivor of the Bataan Death March.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Sloop Gregory; one son, Rodney Gregory, and his wife, Penny, of LaGrange; one daughter, Melissa Attoon of Goldsboro; six grandchildren; his stepchildren, Gene Blake of Leland, Tommy Blake and his wife, Faye, of Wilmington, Jeff Blake and his wife, Sally, of Burgaw and Jimmy Blake and his wife, Connie, of Burgaw; one brother, M.I. Gregory and his wife, Betty, of Greensboro; and his sister-in-law, Inez Gregory of Greensboro.
Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at his residence.
