NANNIE S. WHITFIELD

KINSTON -- Nannie Stroud Whitfield, 87, of Kinston Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Deep Run, died Friday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Whitfield was born in Lenoir County to the late David and Nannie Brown Stroud. She was the wife of the late Marvin A. Whitfield and was a member of Deep Run Free Will Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held this evening at 7 at Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Lanier officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Whitfield is survived by a daughter, Nell Holmes and husband, Gerald of La Grange; one son, Roger Whitfield and wife, Diana of Kinston; one sister, Fannie Taylor of Snow Hill; four grandchildren, Roger Eugene Whitfield, Sonya Lynn Whitfield, Tim Holmes and Sandy Smith; three step-grandchildren, Paul Walker, Casey Walker and Kimberly Cupp; three great-grandchildren, Justin Whitfield, Riley Smith and Ramsey Smith; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today following the service and at other times they will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Holmes, 308 Spence St., La Grange.

Arrangements are with Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
