AUGUSTA LASSITER
SMITHFIELD -- Augusta Mae Lassiter, mother of Alice Jean Lytle of Goldsboro, died Tuesday at Britthaven of Smithfield.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Johnston Piney Grove Baptist Church in Clayton. The Rev. Thomas B. Bass will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lassiter was the daughter of the late Rev. Augustus McCoy and Annie B. Bell Session and was the widow of Dave Lassiter and June Lynn. She was a retired seamstress and was a member of Oakey Grove Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the senior choir and the usher board.
In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Lassiter is survived by five sons, David Jr. of Edenton, William Leon of Garner, Johnny of Clayton, Curtis Wayne of Dunn and Willie Christopher of Greensboro; three brothers, Halvester McCoy of Erwin and Linwood McCoy and Glenwood McCoy of Dunn; one sister, Stella Brewington of Dunn; and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The wake will be held from 7 until 9 p.m. on Saturday at Oakey Grove Baptist Church.
Walter Sanders Funeral Home is serving the family.
